WhatsApp calls not ringing on your iPhone? Here are 5 things to try

Plenty of iPhone users have found themselves missing calls without explanation. The phone didn't ring, buzz, or notify you, leaving you scrambling to explain why you didn't pick up. Luckily, a little detective work usually reveals the culprit. Here are four reasons your iPhone may fail to alert you about an incoming WhatsApp call.

Silent mode

Here's a classic mistake: your phone's ring/silent switch gets bumped to silent without you realising it. With no audible notification, it's easy to miss a call. The switch on the side of your iPhone controls ring and silent modes. Slide it upwards to return to audible notifications.

Connected elsewhere

If your iPhone is linked up with wireless headphones, speakers, or even your Apple Watch, incoming call notifications can get rerouted without you realising. For example, WhatsApp call sounds may automatically play through AirPods instead of the iPhone speaker. You can check if there's a connected Bluetooth device through the Control Center by holding down the Bluetooth icon.

Do Not Disturb mode

Another factor that could be affecting your iPhone’s ability to ring is having DND mode on. With DND enabled, your iPhone stifles sounds to prevent disturbances. This affects not just the ability to ring on WhatsApp, but all other apps as well. You can turn this mode off from Settings > Do Not Disturb.

Connection issues

One of the top reasons your iPhone won't notify you of a WhatsApp call is a weak or unstable internet connection. Spotty connections disrupt the signal between devices, preventing calls from coming through. Before blaming your device, check your connection bars. If low, switch location or toggle between mobile data and Wi-Fi. If the problem persists across connections, there could be a different issue at play.

Phone noise cancellation

Believe it or not, iPhone features intended to improve audio can occasionally prevent call notifications. Cases of WhatsApp calls not ringing can sometimes be caused by the Phone Noise Cancellation glitch. You can access this feature under the accessibility settings of your iPhone by opening Settings, and then navigating to Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Phone Noise Cancellation.
