Aadhaar card — the 12-digit identification number that is unique to every enrolled resident in India — can be updated online for free for the next three months, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recently announced. The process of updating Aadhaar documents online, which costs Rs. 50 at physical Aadhaar centres, involves uploading Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents in order to revalidate a user's demographic details, especially if their Aadhaar card was issued a decade ago.

It is worth noting that while the UIDAI says that updating demographic details online will aid in "improved ease of living, better service delivery and enhances authentication success rate", the process of updating demographic details is not compulsory.

Updating Aadhaar details online is a straightforward process that can be completed within a few minutes. Users will require scanned copies of original PoI and PoA documents, depending on the demographic information that needs to be updated. While making these changes costs Rs. 50 at physical centres, it can be done at no cost until June 14, according to the UIDAI.

* Visit the Aadhaar Self Service Portal on the UIDAI website.

* Log on to the portal by entering your Aadhaar number followed by an OTP.

* Click on Document Update and check and verify the existing details.

Using the drop-down list, select and then upload scanned copies of original documents for verification.

Note the service request number, to keep track of the process of updating your details.

iOS 17.0.3 is now rolling out to iPhone users, two weeks after the first public release of Apple's newest operating system update. The company's latest iOS update comes with a fix for an issue that affected Apple's new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models after users complained of overheating issues. The update to iOS 17.0.3 also fixes a security flaw affecting to operating system's kernel that would let a malicious user gain access to a user's smartphone.

Apple recently confirmed that there was an iOS 17 bug that could have caused the new iPhone models to get warm, while some apps, like Uber and Instagram, were not properly optimised for iOS 17 and Apple's new A17 Pro chip, which could have exacerbated the thermal issues. The company stated at the time that the bug would be resolved with a software update, which is now rolling out to users.

In addition to the fix for the iPhone 15 Pro models, the iOS 17.0.3 update also includes a fix for a security issue affecting the iOS kernel that would allow a malicious user to gain elevated privileges on the smartphone, a flaw that was actively exploited on iOS 16.6 and older versions, according to Apple. Similarly, a WebRTC (a real-time communication framework used by several companies) flaw that would allow arbitrary code to be executed on a user's device has also been patched with the update.

Apple Rolls Out iOS 16.7.1 Update With Security Fixes to Users With Older iPhone Models

 

iOS 16.7.1 is currently rolling out to older iPhone models, days after Apple released the iOS 17.0.3 for eligible handsets to fix overheating issues affecting the iPhone 15 Pro models. As part of the latest iOS 16 update, the Cupertino company has patched two security flaws and has advised users to download and install the update on their smartphones. Meanwhile, users who have not installed the iOS 17 update on recent iPhone models can also download the iOS 16.7.1 update.

The update to iOS 16.7.1 began rolling out to users late Tuesday for users with iPhone 8 and newer models, while owners of eligible iPad models will be able to download the iPadOS 16.7.1 update. Users who are running devices compatible with iOS 17 but have chosen to remain on iOS 16 for the time being will also be able to update to the latest version.

Just like the iOS 17.0.3 update that was rolled out last week, the iOS 16.7.1 update comes with an important fix for an iOS 16 kernel vulnerability that allowed a local attacker to elevate privileges and gain access to the device. The iPhone maker says it is aware that the issue was reportedly been actively exploited on systems that were running iOS 16.6 and older versions, according to Apple's updated security notes for the iOS 16.7.1 update.

Meanwhile, Apple has also rolled out the third beta of iOS 17.1 to users on the public beta channel. The update is expected to roll out to users in the coming weeks and will bring the ability to complete AirDrop transfers over the Internet, a new flashlight indicator for the Dynamic Island on non-iPhone 15 Pro models, and new features coming to Apple Music including the ability to add a favourite from the lock screen.

iPhone SE 3 to Be Priced Under Rs. 30,000 in India?

 

Apple to officially drop prices on its entry-level iPhone SE, but there are a couple of ways this could work. Most rumours point to the new model – iPhone SE (2022) iPhone SE 3, iPhone SE 5G, or whatever it's called – launching at $299 or even at $199. The latter is extremely unlikely, since Apple rarely makes such huge changes to its lineup. Still, any price cut would be interesting.

Keeping the price high could be justified because Apple will most likely use a version its most recent  A 15 Bionic SoC, which powers the iPhone 13 Series, and of course the headlining feature will be 5G. We won't lose any features compared to the previous model, so the IP67 rating and wireless charging will continue to set this product apart. Build quality should be top-notch, with metal and glass. Then of course there's Apple's promise of security, long - term software updates, and the usual brand value.

The Android world moved on to big screens with minimal borders and no physical buttons long ago, but Apple keeps its lowest-end iPhone model old-school to keep development costs down and cater to change-resistant upgraders.

European law is forcing the company to loosen its iron grip on its products. That ultimately could lead to a more dynamic experience on the iPhone as developers create more and feature-rich apps for the platform that capitalize on more of Apple's technology.

The change, long resisted by Apple, could be a boon for the company, too.

iPhone has begun to feel humdrum, and sales have faltered.

The situation isn't helped by the way Apple has restricted developers from accessing many of the iPhone's application programming interfaces, software tools that would help them expand app capabilities to make them more compelling.

But according to Bloomberg News, Apple is now laying the groundwork to let outside app makers use some of the company's most tightly held iPhone technology, including its camera and a communications chip enabling contactless payments. That means iPhone users could soon tap to pay for things using their banking and financial apps, rather than just Apple Wallet.

Apple's decision to allow alternative app stores on its iPhones and iPads, similar to the way Smart Alphabets Google has allowed non-Google app marketplaces on Android devices, also would give consumers a wider array of app choices.

It wouldn't be the first time Apple has won big from being forced open. Steve Jobs famously opposed having apps on the iPhone that weren't built by Apple itself, fearing they would infect the device with viruses, or “pollute its integrity,” according to Jobs biographer Walter Isaacson. When the Apple co-founder changed his mind, that set the stage for a thriving marketplace of third-party services, ushering in the phrase, “There's an app for that.”

Apple is wisely preparing to cooperate with the legislation, having learned from Microsoft's famously painful tussles with both American and European antitrust officials in the early 2000s over the way it bundled Internet Explorer into Windows.

Making its core products more interoperable likely helped Microsoft grow its then-nascent cloud business, for which integrating with other existing systems and building stronger relationships with other technology partners would be critical for its success.

Consumers benefited, too. Were it not for that litigation, “we might be living in a world of Microsoft-designed software only,” says Witt .

Xiaomi 14 Ultra to Pack 50-Megapixel Quad Rear Cameras

 

The upcoming handset is said to come with a quad rear camera unit like its siblings. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is said to come as a successor to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

Digital Chat Station (DCS) (translated from Chinese) the camera specifications of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra on Weibo. As per the tipster, the handset will feature four 50-megapixel cameras with f/1.6-f/4.0 variable aperture. This would be a notable upgrade over the dual aperture offered by its predecessor. The xioami 13 ultra also has a quad 50-megapixel sensor arrangement and it has dual aperture of  f/1.9 to f/4.0. The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro also offer variable aperture between f/1.42 to f/4.0 range.

Further, the tipster in a separate post claimed that native focal lengths of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra's camera will be 0.5x, 1x, 3.2x, and 5x.

There is no official word yet on their global debut. The pair is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and run on Xiaomi's HyperOS interface. The Xiaomi 14 series feature LTPO OLED displays with up to 2K resolution and 120Hz dynamic refresh rate. They have a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup. Both models feature up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The Realme GT 5 Pro will run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and feature LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It will include a 50-megapixel 1/1.56 Sony IMX890 sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS) support.

How to recover accidently deleted contacts from iPhone
